We Face the Future Unafraid: A Narrative History of the University of Evansville, the celebratory book written by English Professor Emeritus George Klinger, is now available from the University of Evansville Bookstore.
We Face the Future Unafraid is a sesquicentennial history of UE that begins in 1854 with the founding of Moores Hill Male and Female Collegiate Institute and concludes with an epilogue by UE’s current president Stephen Jennings. Klinger said the book does not focus on dry facts and figures, but on personal accounts of the University. "I focus on the narrative, because this is not meant to be an encyclopedia but rather the story of the University," says Klinger.
The book, approximately 8" x 10" in size, is a coffee-table type book that will be interesting for anyone to peruse. "The pictures are one of my favorite parts," Klinger said.
Klinger, who was at UE from 1963 to 1989, continues to work with the Center for Continuing Education, coordinating the long-running Wednesday Mornings at UE (formerly Wednesday Morning Literature) class and teaching for the Bachelor of Liberal Studies program.
