Research Interests
My research focuses on the interaction or among musculoskeletal form, muscle function, and ecologically-relevant behavioral performance with the goal of delineating general, deterministic, and quantitative relationships between form and performance. The idea behind this research is to with make sense of the diversity of musculoskeletal form found in vertebrates by understanding the functional consequences of that diversity. I have worked on many systems, but my research at Evansville is primarily focused on suction feeding in fish. I use multiple in vivo techniques and technologies to produce an integrative picture of muscle function, organismal biomechanics, and behavioral performance.
