Ashley Nelson describes herself as science-minded. "I've always enjoyed math and chemistry. The topics come easily to me, and I like them. That's why I'm majoring in both applied mathematics and professional chemistry."
The environment in the Department of Mathematics, as well as the small class sizes, has been good for Ashley. "The doors in the math department are always open. If you need help or just want to talk, professors and classmates are there." As she looks to the future, Ashley credits UE with helping her evolve as a person. "I have an inquisitive mind and enjoy problem-solving. Since I've been here, I've developed a better picture of myself. I enjoy finding answers, and I know I'm prepared to do just that."
