Profile

Angie Wooton is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing, at the University of Evansville. She also works as a Family Nurse Practitioner for Deaconess Family Medicine. Her favorite areas of practice are Cardiology and Family Medicine. Angie also works as a balance and fall consultant at Deaconess Hospital.

Angie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree at the University of Southern Indiana, a Master of Science Degree in Adult Health and Nursing Administration at the University of Evansville, and a Post-Master Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Southern Indiana. She just completed her doctoral studies at the University of Hawai'i Manoa.

Angie is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is active in numerous nursing organizations. She has served as the advisor for the Student Nurse Association Professionals (SNAP) at the University of Evansville. She is currently a board member for the Red Cross in Henderson, Kentucky.

Angie's primary area of research interest is balance, falls, aging, and health promotion in older adults. Her dissertation topic was, "Associations between balance confidence and balance performance in community-dwelling older adults." Angie just published an article in Orthopaedic Nursing regarding the effectiveness of Tai Chi as an alternative form of physical activity utilized to improve balance in older adults. When not working on projects for the University of Hawai'i or the University of Evansville, Angie can be found running on the wooded trails of Audubon State Park or spending time with her grandchildren.
