Social Enterprise Week at UE
April 6-11, 2014
The Institute for Global Enterprise presents Social Enterprise Week at the University of Evansville, taking place from April 6-11, 2014. Social Enterprise Week is designed to prepare participants to become our future global leaders, as they will be exposed to best practices in growing a business or organization that is both financially sustainable and addresses a social or environmental challenge within our intensely interconnected, rapidly changing, complex global operating environment.
Ignite Your Passion
To kick-off the Institute for Global Enterprise’s Social Enterprise Week at UE, these TED-style talks will promote what is often the very core behind great social enterprises -- passion. With the theme of “Ignite Your Passion,” each speaker will share how their success and impact can be attributed to following their passion. Short, rich talks will be followed by a reception and opportunities for discussions. These discussions will be a terrific way for all attendees to share their own passions and to build personal and professional relationships. These talks are seeking to fuel a culture centered on individuals igniting their passions, taking action, and making a positive impact on our local and global community. PASSPORT APPROVED EVENT.

Define Your Own Road in Life - Roadtrip Nation
Southern California based Roadtrip Nation co-founder Brian McAllister and team member Jason Manion will be on campus to discuss their story as social innovators who are following their passion to empower hundreds of thousands of students to define their own roads in life and how YOU COULD BE NEXT!
RTN empowers students to "define your own road in life" through education. Their curriculum provides students with the tools needed to "get out into their communities and around the globe and connect what they learn to the real world." PASSPORT APPROVED EVENT.
Changemaker Challenge Final Pitches
Judges Include: Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, UE President Tom Kazee, Old National Bank Executive Jim Ryan, Social Innovators Brian McAllister (Roadtrip Nation), Jason Manion (Roadtrip Nation), and Jeff Bishop (Sustainable Solutions).
Attend this event to hear actionable world changing ideas! Students (individuals or teams) will compete for a cash prize by giving a 5-minute conceptual pitch on the social enterprise start up of their design. Diverse perspectives (cross-disciplinary, cross-cultural, etc.) will be rewarded. The winning pitch will best communicate a social or environmental challenge that exists due to our global interconnectedness, best present a sustainable, scalable, market-based solution, and best imagine (realistic and feasible) the possible impact on our world, on the participants, and on UE. PASSPORT APPROVED EVENT.
