Application and Selection Process
Students interested in applying for admission to the Honors Program should be admitted to the University of Evansville and have either of the following:
- High school applicants - unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above and minimum SAT 1900 or minimum ACT 29
- Transfer applicants - cumulative college grade point average of 3.5 or above
If you've been admitted to UE and met the requirements, an Honors Program Application will automatically be mailed to you. If not, e-mail email@example.com or call 812-488-2468 or 800-423-8633, ext. 2468, for an application to be sent to you. The application deadline is April 1, 2014. Applications received after the deadline will be considered as space allows.
A writing sample is required. It should represent your best writing ability and reflect your thoughts, opinions, and ideas. The sample may be a graded paper from an assignment or an essay of your own design.
Once your application and writing sample are received, they will be reviewed by a faculty committee. Information from your application for admission will be collected as well. While reviewing your application, faculty will consider your grade point average, curriculum, class rank, writing sample, and standardized test scores. The committee meets monthly beginning in February to review Honors Program applications. Therefore, you can expect to be notified of an admission decision within a month or two after submitting your application.
Current UE students may also apply for admission to the Honors Program. It is best to apply before the end of the sophomore year to allow enough time to complete the Program requirements. Current students should complete the Honors Program application, provide a writing sample, and submit a letter of recommendation from an academic advisor or professor.
For those who prefer to apply on-line for admission to the Honors Program, contact the Office of Admission to request your ID and instructions to access the application at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 812-488-2468 or 800-423-8633, ext. 2468.
