I have always wanted to be a successful and famous civil engineer. When I graduated high school, I was looking for the right place to pursue my dream. I was advised to consider UE because it has a very good engineering program that is competitive, well recognized, and full of activities, which was exactly what I was looking for. As far as the relationship between students and professors is concerned, I have never in my life experienced a better one. With classes of 20 to 30 students, the professors are always willing to help each student individually.

As an international student experiencing a whole new environment and culture, I was afraid I wasn’t going to fit in at Evansville. I was completely wrong. The University of Evansville is a small campus, yet very lively and eventful. On my very first day, I made a lot of friends, both Americans and internationals. I have only been here for eight months, and I have made friends from over 40 different countries. There are countless number of activities and clubs to join and there is always something to do. I have joined Venturing Crew (Outdoor Club), International Club, civil engineering projects, and soccer intramural league. I can't deny that I love it and can't get enough of it. With that being said, I am confident to say that the University of Evansville is the right place for me, and I have no doubt it will transform me into a great civil engineer.

Being a mechanical engineering major at UE has been an adventure. UE engineering courses are distinct because the University mixes STEM courses with the liberal arts. This is a great opportunity because it allows me to expand my interests and knowledge.

As a sophomore, I am applying shop skills and critical thinking to produce results. Recently, I joined a senior thermo siphon project. This opportunity not only helps me complete the requirement for my integrated design course, but also prepares me for the upcoming year.

As an international student from a country undergoing change, I was able to share different experiences with my classmates. As one of the first students from Myanmar at UE, I usually take a leading role in representing my country. At this year’s International Bazaar, two other students and I will present Myanmar and Burmese food.

As a mechanical engineering major at the University of Evansville, I believe that UE has a good atmosphere for engineering majors, based partially on a quiet, calm environment. The professors are always willing to help in the classrooms, during office hours and even sometimes during breaks. This makes studying engineering a lot easier and fun.

When I was applying to the University of Evansville, I never thought that I would have the opportunity to work on so many projects and do research so early into my studies. At larger universities, it would take a lot of effort to be included in a senior-led design team, some universities will not even allow underclassmen, but here at UE, anyone of us can join a team and help design, fabricate and build senior projects, like cars, wind turbines, rockets and many more. I am currently on the Baja Car Team and it has been a blast so far! I have been learning a lot of things about cars and how to design and build a car.

I love the engineering schedule and syllabus because construction of different devices started as early as the first semester when we were told to design a tennis ball launcher. The competition was exciting and made me realize that I was on the right path to a bright future.

I've always been amazed by the fascinating digital world around me, wanted to know about that mysterious world, and dreamed of being able to program and design my own computer applications. During the first semester of my freshman year, all my dreams came true! I had to take a class called "Introduction to Computer Engineering", that unique class was one of the most interesting classes that I've ever taken in my life. In the first two weeks, my classmates and I were able to design and launch a balloon with a camera attached to it. We designed the device so that it flies above the campus and takes a picture every minute. In the next two weeks, we programmed a software application that enciphers and deciphers secret messages! It was such an interesting class that showed me what I'm going to be in the future and what I'll be capable of. In the small classes, the professors have the time and space to focus on every individual student and ensure that nobody misses anything. By having my basic dream achieved in the first semester alone, I have no doubt that UE will have prepared me for a successful and professional career by the time I graduate.

The Mechanical Engineering program at the University of Evansville is preparing me to face a world of challenges as well as opportunities. The department of Mechanical Engineering at UE is providing the necessary tools for engaging the dynamic workforce that challenges professionals to come up with solutions to the problems of the current and upcoming generations.

UE professors focus on teaching rather than research which is what makes the engineering program here unique. They make sure students understand the concepts and encourage them to further their knowledge by assigning team based projects that motivate engineering students to learn by doing. In addition, several senior-led teams recruit students from all levels to work on competitive projects. As a member of both the Formula SAE Car and the USLI Rocket Teams, I have gained priceless hands-on experience that has prepared me to face the challenges in the workforce.

In addition to school teams' projects, companies around Evansville such as Toyota, General Electric and others are always looking for UE students to provide opportunities to gain real world experience by participating in internship or co-op programs.

These kinds of opportunities are what make the Mechanical Engineering program at UE distinctive.

After spending the last couple of years at UE, it has slowly morphed into a home away from home for me. I came to Evansville not knowing what to expect but the excellent staff at the international office really helped me in the transitioning process. There is a strong international culture present at the university that makes it easy for international students to develop relationships and mingle. The entire university body provided a receptive environment for me to live and learn in.

The academic experience in the electrical engineering department is one of a kind. The small class sizes helped me develop a personal relationship with my professors. I am able to walk into their offices at any time and get help, be it with a personal problem or a school related program. Being able to work on real world projects as early as my sophomore year has also taught me a lot about myself and what I would like to do after I graduate.

Working with career services and the engineering department on my career development was really great. Through this, I have been able to earn valuable internship experience which has turned into a full time job opportunity for me with a local company after graduation.

I would definitely recommend UE to anyone; I can honestly say it has impacted me positively!

As an international student from the Dominican Republic at the University of Evansville, the experience I have had as an electrical engineering major has been marvelous. UE is a relatively small private university, so students benefit from having small classes. This has helped me by providing direct contact with every one of my wonderful instructors, and by doing so, has enhanced my learning process.

It is a great opportunity to be part of the engineering group of UE and the charming environment of the campus. To come to UE to study has been one of the best decisions I have made and I am completely sure that, as me, you won't ever regret it!

As a prospective student, I always looked forward to going to a top ranked school. At UE, I have been impressed by the individual attention and well-rounded experience I have received. The engineering program is tailored to give students more hands-on experiences in practical projects as part of the curriculum. As a senior, I have participated in two projects: The NASA rocket team in 2010 and the SAE super mileage car in 2011. Right now, I am working on a two-semester research project, which will provide me with the experience I need for graduate school studies. The professors are very friendly and, because of the small class sizes, they have more time to spend with individual students. This has been especially helpful for international students who require some time in their first semester to adjust to college life in the US. The University of Evansville has changed my view, and I would encourage any student to attend UE for its undergraduate engineering program.

UE has fulfilled all my college expectations and more, both academically and socially. It is a small and diverse campus, with a large population of international students. The classes are also small and the professor to student ratio is favorable. As an electrical engineering major and an international student, I needed extra help and guidance from my professors; I got all that and more. The professors were always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that I succeeded in all my classwork and projects. They always give student the highest priority despite their busy schedules.

With the help of the office of Cultural Engagement and International Services (CEIS), I felt very welcome within the first week of school. During my four years at UE, I joined various clubs, like the International student club and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) to name a few, that have positively enhanced my stay at the University of Evansville.

The University of Evansville's quality education and social programs, have aided me in becoming a professional that will thrive with the present competitive job market.

I have greatly enjoyed my experience at the University of Evansville thus far. I owe the result of my great experiences in part to the other international students, both alumni and current students who are always here for me. Also, to the staff, who are willing to listen to the problems I have regarding my education and personal issues. The friends here are great, especially those who share my passion for soccer, religion, and dance.

The University of Evansville's very competitive College of Engineering and Computer Science has never ceased to push me to strive harder. I have become a much greater and tougher student over the years. In addition, studying abroad at the University of Evansville's British campus, Harlaxton, added to my experience as a student, as I was able to experience life across the different cultures of Europe. I have had a good time in my four years here and would not change a thing even if I could.
