Here at UE, the academic environment shapes my intellectual outcomes through challenging courses and collaborative professors. This is critical for my future success.

Although I am a political science major, I have the opportunity to take liberal arts and science courses like chemistry, law, music, and foreign language. Having an understanding of other elements of education is necessary in expanding my general knowledge. From the beginning, my professors at UE have challenged me, and they have also provided me with the guidance necessary to succeed.

My involvement in different clubs at UE has broadened my horizon and worldviews. Participating in different clubs makes UE a special place. Through these activities, I am able to share my culture while learning about others. Sometimes balancing my time between clubs and class can be challenging, but I learned the skill of time management.

My love for music, especially singing, has been further propelled by amazing professors who endlessly offer help and advice whenever I need it. Some go beyond what a professor is required to do, and I am more than thankful that these professors are here for me. University Choir and Kantorei are the two major ensembles that I am in. These are great platforms for students to showcase their talents, as well as to learn to work closely as part of a team. We also get opportunities to perform off-campus, sometimes in professional groups, to prepare ourselves for the future.

Because of UE’s teacher-student ratio, we get more attention from our professors, enhancing our learning experience. I also appreciate the diversity that we have on campus and the support we get from our international coordinators, who make UE feel like home away from home. Thanks to UE, the people I've met, some I'd call friends for life, have all contributed in making my study abroad experience great.

One has many ideas about how college is going to be: classes, and life in general. But when it comes to leaving your country and experiencing a different culture, you don’t know what to expect.

As an international student majoring in biology, I must say that from the moment I arrived at UE, my expectations were exceeded, especially in regard to my major. Classes are challenging, and professors are involved in your education inside and outside the classroom starting from the first day of classes. Even though this is my first semester here, I feel that being away from home during this time has helped me grow as a person, and I’m really looking forward to continuing my college experience at UE for the next four years.

As an international student it was very important for me to be able to experience several cultures and backgrounds while receiving a liberal arts education.

During my time at the University of Evansville, I was able to explore different interests while studying both political science, and international studies. During these four years, I have been able to better understand the political process within the United States, while also challenging the previous perceptions I had about politics in general. It gave me the opportunity to explore different countries, while teaching me the framework necessary to understand modern day politics, not only in the United States, but also in Colombia, Europe, Canada and the rest of the world.

One of the greatest opportunities that the university has to offer is Harlaxton College, located in Grantham, England. For six months, I was able to live and immerse myself in British culture, while taking different classes about the culture, historic background, and political environment of England, with the opportunity to travel to other European countries throughout the semester. In addition, due to the university's internship program, I was able to work during a summer internship in the House of Commons, in Ottawa Canada. The education I received has certainly allowed me to analyze information critically, build relationships, and create original work, while teaching me to manage my time successfully in order to tackle multiple tasks. These different and unique challenges and experiences have allowed me to adjust and adapt to different situations, thus giving me the necessary skills to be able to succeed in the future, whether it be going graduate school in Europe or finding a rewarding career within the United States, Colombia or somewhere else in the world.

I decided to pursue psychology as a minor because I find that there are many theories in psychology that are applicable to music therapy, which is my major degree, and to daily life. Each of my psychology courses has focused on different disciplines that have enriched my knowledge in understanding different psychological disorders, types of treatments, the functions of the brain, the relationship between the legal system and psychology, and more.

While studying these courses, I came across many challenges. However, the professors in the Department of Psychology have been very helpful guiding me through the process and giving me a lot of support. They provide office hours for students wishing to talk or ask questions. Furthermore, they assist by providing tutors who are psychology majors, on a regular basis. This truly provides additional opportunities for me to ask questions during study sessions.

I have been a member of the Psychology Club at UE since my sophomore year, and recently achieved membership of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology.

I started my undergraduate studies at UE as a communication major with concentrations in mass media and public relations. After my first semester, having taken Introduction to Philosophy as a general education requirement, I decided that I wanted to double major in philosophy, because the style of teaching was very different from what I encountered in Hungary. So my next semester I took Philosophy of Law and my decision seemed to be quite fitting. I also explored a cognitive science class to determine my interest.

Following my first year, I decided that I wanted to change my major to cognitive science because it was much more engaging for me personally. Since cognitive science is such a wide discipline, a psychology minor can be easily achieved by adding several extra classes. The psychology classes have been both challenging and useful towards earning my degree and in everyday life.

As a fourth semester student I am very content with my academics. My classes hold my attention and I read about them even outside of class. My professors support me in class, help me with occasional struggles and are willing to spend time explaining things that I might not have understood in class. I am confident that I will be able to utilize the knowledge I am learning no matter what I end up doing after graduation.

I am an international student at the University of Evansville, pursuing a bachelor's degree, double-majoring in international studies and political science with a minor in business. Before I applied to the University I had many thoughts regarding whether this would be the right thing to do for myself. We have good universities at home with good programs, so why did I want to study abroad? The decision was not easy and sometimes in between semesters I still ask myself why I did this. But then when I look around, I know the answer. It is a life changing experience and you learn so much not only about a different culture, but also about yourself.

My experience with the international studies/political science office was very good. My advisor and the other professors were very helpful regarding choosing classes and answering general questions which came up during the semesters. I felt that I was well prepared for the classes I had to take regarding my majors/minor as they helped me with registering for classes I needed to stay on track.

The most important part of course, was that it is a good way to further learn a language. You can learn English in school, but if you are actually in the country, it is different, as you have to speak, read, and understand people, classmates, and professors. You are surrounded by the language and people speaking the language. You also learn about a new culture, it gives you new experiences, and it also gives you better job opportunities.

Now I've started my last semester at the university and I can't believe how fast the time went by. I worked very closely with the international office on campus, which is very helpful regarding problems, giving assistance, or just general things that come up. I am glad that the university has this international office.

When I first arrived at UE, it was also my first time in the USA and I did not know what to expect. What I found was an active, cheerful and diverse campus, both nationally and internationally, with students from all over the US and the world. This made it easy to settle in and feel welcome. Being a part of small university is an experience I would never trade; UE is definitely a small school with a big attitude.

The small classes encourage students to get to know professors personally, which was invaluable to me when I needed student research experience and letters of recommendation for graduate school applications, not to mention their advice and personal connections. It also helped me get to know my peers and the students in my major, physics; studying and collaborating with them made it much easier along the way. Plus, being within 3 hours of several big universities and cities such as Nashville, St. Louis and Indianapolis opens up many more opportunities for work and research experiences over the summer, and great vacations! With the close support of a caring international office for information, support, as well as planning events both on and off campus during breaks, made UE quickly feel like a home away from home. Right now I am applying to 9 graduate schools across the USA, confident that my UE experience both socially and academically prepared me for the next step. Thank you UE!

I have been a student at the University of Evansville for the past 3 years and am in my final year as a senior. I am studying pre-med, majoring in biology. UE has been a very pleasant and enriching experience; academically, I am very happy with the choice I made to attend UE. The student to professor ratio in all my major related classes is perfect for personal attention and interaction between faculty and students. My biology courses are all taught by professors who hold terminal degrees and are stalwarts in their field. The education environment provided by UE is very conducive for students like me to prepare for my future plans of going to medical school.

Being the student manager of UE's Soccer Team, I have had the life transforming experience of being part of the sport I love so much. UE has provided me ample opportunities for interacting with people from all different corners of the world. With a semester left for me to graduate, I am proud to have chosen UE as my school of choice and have had great memories here.

What can I say about my UE experience? Simply put, my UE experience has transformed me. When I started college, I didn't dream of doing all the things I have accomplished at UE. Yet, the endless opportunities at UE have exposed me to life-changing experiences I will forever cherish. At UE, I have learned to be a leader as well as a follower through involvement in student-run organizations. I have mentored many and been mentored by many, including faculty.

Academically and professionally, my experience at UE has prepared me for a future in medicine. In the summer of my first year, I was able to intern at an infectious disease hospital in Columbus, GA. During this internship I was able to observe a neurosurgeon in his clinic and the operating room. In the subsequent summers, I observed the medical and administrative practices at a hospital in Nigeria and later worked as a sales representative for a marketing company in Evansville. On a scholarly level, I have been blessed with the opportunity to be a part of the University Choir, an esteemed group of vocal performers with which I was able to perform in Carnegie Hall, New York. I have also been able to take vocal lessons, and will graduate with a minor in music studies, even as I am a neuroscience major. These are opportunities I would not have easily taken hold of if I was not a student at UE.

All of these experiences have transformed my disposition to life and appreciation for the true gifts of life. From classes in political science to classes in advanced neuroscience, I have been exposed to almost all fields of education. From soccer and basketball intramural sports to student leadership experiences, I have also been exposed to a wide variety of sports and extracurricular activities. For seven semesters, I have lived the UE experience and I have enjoyed every bit of it!
