What can I say about my UE experience? Simply put, my UE experience has transformed me. When I started college, I didn't dream of doing all the things I have accomplished at UE. Yet, the endless opportunities at UE have exposed me to life-changing experiences I will forever cherish. At UE, I have learned to be a leader as well as a follower through involvement in student-run organizations. I have mentored many and been mentored by many, including faculty.
Academically and professionally, my experience at UE has prepared me for a future in medicine. In the summer of my first year, I was able to intern at an infectious disease hospital in Columbus, GA. During this internship I was able to observe a neurosurgeon in his clinic and the operating room. In the subsequent summers, I observed the medical and administrative practices at a hospital in Nigeria and later worked as a sales representative for a marketing company in Evansville. On a scholarly level, I have been blessed with the opportunity to be a part of the University Choir, an esteemed group of vocal performers with which I was able to perform in Carnegie Hall, New York. I have also been able to take vocal lessons, and will graduate with a minor in music studies, even as I am a neuroscience major. These are opportunities I would not have easily taken hold of if I was not a student at UE.
All of these experiences have transformed my disposition to life and appreciation for the true gifts of life. From classes in political science to classes in advanced neuroscience, I have been exposed to almost all fields of education. From soccer and basketball intramural sports to student leadership experiences, I have also been exposed to a wide variety of sports and extracurricular activities. For seven semesters, I have lived the UE experience and I have enjoyed every bit of it!
