- Do I need a TOEFL score to be accepted?
No, a TOEFL score is not necessary for acceptance. If you have taken a TOEFL test, we ask for the score to help us get a better idea of your current English ability.
- May I be accepted into an undergraduate program and the Intensive English Center program?
Yes. You may be accepted into both the undergraduate program and the Intensive English Center program. The application and instructions to apply for undergraduate study is located at this link. If you are applying for both the undergraduate and Intensive English Center program, you will need only this application.
- What is conditional acceptance?
Conditional acceptance means that you are accepted into the undergraduate program pending English proficiency. Once your English proficiency has been met, you will begin undergraduate classes.
- Can I begin the program at any time?
You can begin the program at the beginning of any session. We have six sessions per year. The approximate times are as follows:
- Fall 1 Session: Late August — Mid-October
- Fall 2 Session: Mid-October — Mid-December
- Spring 1 Session: Early January — Early March
- Spring 2 Session: Mid-March — Early May
- Summer 1 Session: Late May — Late June
- Summer 2 Session: Late June — Late July
- Can I be a part-time student?
You may be a part-time student if you do not require a student (F-1) visa. U.S. immigration regulations require that you be a full-time student if you are on an F-1 visa.
- How do I apply?
You can apply on-line using our online application.
- What do I do after completing the on-line application?
- How long will the application process take?
The on-line application will take only a few minutes. If you will not be coming on an F-1 visa, no more is necessary. We will contact you about the cost of the program and when to come to campus. If you will be coming on an F-1 visa, we can begin preparing an I-20 as soon as we receive the appropriate financial documents from you.
- If I plan to come on a student (F-1) visa, when will you send me the I-20?
We can send you the I-20 a few days after receiving your application and complete financial information.
- How do I apply for my student (F-1) visa?
After you receive your I-20, you will need to pay your SEVIS fee — you can do this on-line. As soon as your SEVIS fee is paid, you will need to contact the embassy to make a visa appointment. Please feel free to contact us at iec@evansville.edu if you have any questions.
- How long will I be in Intensive English?
If you are accepted conditionally, you will take intensive English courses until you score at least 500 on our TOEFL exam. If you are taking intensive English courses for a different reason, you may choose how long you want to take the courses. You can continue to benefit from taking the courses because course material changes regularly.
