Orchestra/String Ensemble

Orchestra playing

"The University of Evansville Orchestra and String Ensemble offer students of all majors the opportunity to perform in both orchestral and chamber settings. With our string faculty and the resident Eykamp String Quartet, students collaborate, receive coaching, and perform with professional musicians from the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra."

— Dr. Chun-Ming Chen, Director of Orchestral Activities

Symphony Orchestra

The University Symphony Orchestra is an ensemble open to both music majors and non-music majors. Composed of nearly 60 student musicians, the orchestra presents four concerts each year featuring repertoire ranging from time-honored favorites to avant-garde masterpieces as well as solo appearances by guest artists, UE music faculty and winners of the annual Vukovich concerto competition.

The ensemble's repertoire spans standard string orchestra literature, folk music, and modern compositions. IN addition to one formal concert per semester, the String Ensemble performs outreach concert throughout the community, including in nursing homes and retirement communities.
