In the spirit of the University Sesquicentennial theme "Civic Mission...Sacred Trust", the Department of Music serves as a focal point of artistic activity and a source of education for developing musicians in the greater Evansville community.
Friends of UE Music
The Friends of UE Music provides financial support for special department projects and aids in creating a close bond among the faculty, students, parents, alumni and the department's many supporters. Since its inception in 1981 FUEM has contributed significantly to the benefit of the department.
The University of Evansville Suzuki Violin Program is an on-going program for children ages 4 - 17 based on the educational philosophy of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki.
The UE Summer Music Camp is for students in elementary, middle, and high school with a background in band, choir, or orchestra. Students will play in large groups, receive instruction in like-instrument or like-voice groups, learn music theory, and have a choice of music-related electives. The camp runs Sunday through Saturday June 23rd-29th, with day camp and overnight camp options. The final concert will take place in the Victory Theater in downtown Evansville.
Professional and Service Organizations
- UE Music students are actively involved in campus and community projects sponsored by professional and service organizations. The Department of Music hosts chapters of professional music fraternities Sigma Alpha Iota and Phi Mu Alpha, professional organizations such as NAfME, AMTA, and ASTA, and the college honor society Pi Kappa Lambda.
