Wesley Shepard Honor Band
The Wesley Shepard Honor Band Festival provides talented high school musicians an opportunity to work with leading conductors and performing artists. Through one-on-one contact with expert instructors and directors, students experience the type of training and performing standards that await them should they choose to pursue a career in music. This annual festival is named in honor of Wesley Shepard, Professor of Music, Director of Bands, and Chair of the Department of Music from 1946 until 1972.
Each year the Honor Band invites a nationally-known wind ensemble conductor to rehearse and prepare top high school musicians from the Tri-State area for a full concert band performance at the conclusion of the festival. In addition students work with University of Evansville faculty in sectionals and coaching sessions. Since its inception, the Shepard Honor Band has grown to become a much-anticipated event in the Tri-State.May 11 - 13, 2012
