Kristie Byrns to Lead UE's Center for Adult Education

Posted: Monday, August 5, 2013

Kristie Byrns has been named director of the Center for Adult Education at the University of Evansville. She previously served as the center’s associate director and is a 2010 graduate of its Master of Science in Public Service Administration program.

Byrns replaces former director Carla Doty, who retired May 31. She begins work in her new role today and is responsible for the direct oversight for all adult learners in the degree-seeking programs administered through the Center for Adult Education, as well as other programs such as professional certificates and non-credit courses.

“I look forward to a positive future in the Center for Adult Education as we continue to offer high-quality educational opportunities for working adults in our community,” Byrns said. “I will strive to build relationships across our campus by collaborating with other academic areas to enhance our current programs and develop new initiatives to benefit our students and our community.”

Byrns joined the Center for Adult Education in 2009 as program coordinator and was promoted to associate director in 2012. Prior to that, she had a successful 12-year career in the mortgage banking industry.

In addition to a Master of Science from UE, Byrns holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of Southern Indiana.
