The University of Evansville is proud to welcome the chairman and chief executive officer of A.O. Smith Corporation back to campus this Monday as the featured speaker in this year’s Kern Family Foundation Speaker Series.

Paul W. Jones, who graduated from the University of Evansville in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, will speak at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, in the Smythe Lecture Hall (room 170) of UE’s Schroeder Family School of Business Administration Building. His lecture, entitled “Lessons Learned,” will detail the knowledge he has acquired through four years at UE, and nearly 40 years working among the leading businesses in the electric industry.

The lecture is free, and open to the public.

“Paul Jones has had an extraordinary career since leaving the University of Evansville in 1971,” said Philip Gerhart, dean of UE’s College of Engineering & Computer Science. “We’re excited not only to welcome him back to campus, but to hear what he has to say about a 38-year career that now has him at the top of his profession, as the chair and CEO of A.O. Smith Corporation in Milwaukee.”

In his current role, Jones oversees a leading global supplier of electric motors and water heaters for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. The company has annual revenues of $2.3 billion, approximately 19,000 employees, and operations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands, and China.

Jones began his career with General Electric Company, where he worked from 1971 to 1989. He also served with U.S. Can Company in Lombard, Illinois; and Greenfield Industries in Augusta, Georgia.

His lecture is funded by the Kern Family Foundation through the KEEN program, which fosters entrepreneurial engineering.
