Springtime at UE

Financial Aid Packages being mailed

The wait is finally over! The University of Evansville has started mailing student financial aid packages. They will be mailed on a rolling basis to admitted students for whom UE has Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) results. For FAFSA filers, the packages will include all the student's eligible merit and need-based aid. If you have decided not to file the FAFSA, you will receive your award within the next two weeks.

Questions? Concerns?

We want to help you understand your financial aid award. Your admission counselor will be contacting you to review the results of your financial aid package in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, you can contact your admission counselor (Find your admission counselor) or call the Office of Admission at 800-423-8633, ext. 2468, or admission@evansville.edu.

You can also contact the Office of Financial Aid at 800-423-8633, ext. 2364.

Basketball Playing Robots at UE

Two University of Evansville students will compete in their own kind of March Madness when they take their basketball playing robots to the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers SoutheastCon 2007 annual student competition in Virginia March 23-25.

The students will compete against teams from nearly 40 other colleges and universities in a variety of categories.

The two students are Ted Morse who has constructed SQUARM (Squeek on an Advanced Reduced Instruction Set Computing Machine) and Evan Hallam who has constructed the IEEE Basketball Playing Robot.

Both robots play basketball by shooting ping pong balls through a hoop. Programmed on different computer operating platforms, the robots have been designed to follow a white line to a rebound box where they are loaded for shooting. Next, they move into shooting range and shoot the ping pong balls.

With a sure trajectory, the balls zoom out of the tray where they are loaded into a hoop at the opposite end of the "court," a black box built to mimic what they will face in the competition set up.

(Pictured: Hallam's robot shoots three balls in succession all zooming into the net at the end of the court.)
