New online gathering place for future UE freshmen
University of Evansville accepted students will soon have a place to join other future UE freshmen. Aces' Place is an online community for only those students accepted to Evansville for Fall 2008. Aces' Place provides the opportunity to post your profile, meet classmates, and find other students with similar interests in academic programs and social activities. You may even find your future roommate. Current UE students will also be on the site to answer questions and provide feedback about UE. In the next week, you will receive an e-mail from acesplace@evansville.edu inviting you to be a member. If you have questions about Aces' Place, contact acesplace@evansville.edu or admission@evansville.edu. See you online!
Mark your calendar for February 15-17, 2008, for your weekend experience at the University of Evansville. Accepted students are invited to spend the weekend on campus. Road Trip is a great occasion to visit Evansville. Last year, nearly 300 accepted UE students spent the weekend on campus. You will be able to meet your future classmates face to face as well as speak with professors and current students. Activities include mock classes, ice skating, shopping at the mall, campus tour, Greek philanthropic events, karaoke, trivia games, and much more. You'll even spend the night in a residence hall so don't forget your sleeping bag and pillow. Register today for Road Trip 2008! Read what last year's Road Trippers had to say... "I had questions about my major and was able to talk to UE students in that field." "There was a great comfortable atmosphere and it was very easy to meet people from other regions and yet with the same status of learning about Evansville." "I really enjoyed just feeling like I was a student on campus!" Questions? E-mail admission@evansville.edu. Office of Career Services The Office of Career Services at the University of Evansville encourages students to schedule an appointment with one of the staff members starting their freshman year. If you are still deciding upon your major (approximately 30 percent of UE freshman have not declared a major) or have questions about the career path for your area of study, career services staff has resources available to help you. One such resource is the Do What You Are Career Interest Assessment. This assessment will ask you questions that assess your personality and values. You will then receive a report of possible career choices for you to explore. At your follow-up appointment with career services, you will have help evaluating the report and developing a career plan. Next steps will include connecting with alumni or business professionals and meeting with professors about potential majors, minors, and study abroad options. Visit the career services Web site to further explore available resources including "What Can I Do with a Major In...?" and "A Lifelong Guide to Career Development." |
