Your Weekend at UE

Road Trip February 20-22

Pack your bags and we'll pick you up. It's time for UE's Road Trip Weekend! During Road Trip, you will spend two nights in a residence hall with a current student and really learn firsthand what happens at UE.

While on campus you will have an opportunity to:

  • Meet professors
  • See a UE theatre production, As It Is In Heaven
  • Tour campus
  • Shop at Eastland Mall
  • Enjoy coffee at Jazzman's, relax in Ridgway University Center, attend a sorority fundraiser, and much more!

UE Theatre presents As It Is In Heaven

The University of Evansville Department of Theatre opens Arlene Hutton’s As It is in Heaven at 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13, in Shanklin Theatre. Directed by Dr. Diane Brewer, As It is in Heaven is a thought-provoking portrayal of the challenges a utopian 1830s Shaker community faces upon the arrival of an eccentric newcomer.  In a society rife with claims of divine manifestations, this tightly knit community of women must examine their own beliefs about goodness, human frailty, and redemption.  Set in the rolling hills of Kentucky, this moving depiction of simple Shaker life is told through elegant dialogue and haunting hymns sure to inspire and delight audiences.

The all female cast features senior Ellen Shrode, from Evansville, Ind., as Rachel; juniors Angela Morris, from Harrisburgh, Ill., as Peggy; Meredith Wood from Arlington, Texas, as Phebe; Kristin Parker, from Chapel Hill, N.C., as Betsy; Sally Cade Homes, from Simpsonville, S.C., as Hannah; and Anna Douglas, from Nashville, Tenn., as Jane; as well as sophomore Blair Busbee, from Leesburg, Ga., as Fanny; and freshmen Sarah Vogt, from Floyds Knobs, Ind., as Izzy; and Samantha Aneson, from Orange County, Calif., as Polly.

The design team for As It is in Heaven includes scenic designer Ashlee Springer, a senior from Marietta, Ga.; costume designer Cole McCarty, a junior from Denton, Texas; lighting designer Jeremy Winchester, assistant professor of theatre; and sound designer Chuck Meacham, associate professor of theatre.

Men's Basketball to host Miami of Ohio in ESPNU BracketBusters Series

The University of Evansville will host the Miami of Ohio RedHawks on Saturday, February 21, in an ESPNU BracketBusters game at Roberts Stadium.

Because the Evansville-Miami game is one of 13 chosen to be televised by ESPN, the game time will not be set until Monday, February 9. The seventh annual ESPNU BrasketBusters includes 51 games involving NCAA Tournament hopefuls from 17 conferences. ESPN2 will televise six games, ESPNU will televise five, and two will be available on ESPN360.com.

"Miami has four seniors in their starting lineup, and I know that every team coached by Charlie Coles plays very hard and won't beat themselves," said Evansville coach Marty Simmons. "They'll be a very tough match-up for us."
