Road Trip Fun

Nearly 275 students participated in Road Trip 2009

The 23rd annual University of Evansville Road Trip saw close to 275 students experience college life. Road Trip attracted students from all over the country, including California, Florida, Maryland, and Vermont. Students attending Road Trip came from 25 states.

During the weekend, students attended Greek functions and religious life activities as well as the ESPN BracketBuster win over Miami of Ohio, watched the theatre performance of As It is in Heaven and the movie Twilight, ate in the Ridgway University Center, stayed in the residence halls, participated in mock classes, and selected special interest sessions to learn more about everything from athletics to student publications. "This event, more than anything offered by other colleges, gives students a real perspective of what it means to be a University of Evansville student," said Heather Cook, admission counselor.

If you missed Road Trip, you still have plenty of time to visit campus. Schedule your private visit, or register for an upcoming Open House.

The Freshman Edge

The Freshman Edge is a unique 11-day program designed for incoming freshmen. The Edge, a residential program, gives students a chance to experience residence hall life and make friends before classes begin in the fall.

During Freshman Edge, you will meet many University of Evansville faculty members and community leaders in Evansville. Students will study The American Corporation (three-hour course), which will fulfill their "American Traditions" requirement for General Education. Managerial tours will be included of local businesses. This program allows students to ask questions, seek answers, make connections, and explore campus before the fall semester begins.

Comments from past participants:

"We experienced firsthand what college classes are like and the assignments involved."

"At first I just thought it would be a way for me to get 3 credit hours. I had no idea how much fun I would end up having."

Holsinger named first team academic all-America

Senior Jason Holsinger became the third player in University of Evansville basketball history to make the Academic All-America Team.  Holsinger, named a first team all-American by ESPN The Magazine, is an economics major from Lapel, Indiana, with a 3.89 grade point average. A four-year starter at guard, he is a two-year team captain who has led Evansville to a 17-11 record this season.

UE's Scott Haffner was third team in 1988 and first team in 1989.  Clint Cuffle was first team in 2003 and second team in 2004.

Holsinger ranks number one in career scoring among active Missouri Valley Conference players with 1,418 points.  He is the 13th leading scorer in Aces' history.
