University of Evansville
President
Evansville, IN
The University of Evansville (UE) is proudly celebrating a history of over 150 years with a sesquicentennial theme of "Civic Mission...Sacred Trust." These four words celebrate our rich tradition and honor Evansville's long-standing affiliation with the United Methodist Church. The university is committed to active learning and scholarship in a student-centered environment, while offering a distinctive curriculum that is grounded in the liberal arts and sciences. The University of Evansville prepares women and men for lives of personal and professional service and leadership in an increasingly global and diverse society.
Ranking #10 in U.S. News and World Report's 2009 master's-granting institutions category, the University of Evansville is also #6 in the new category of Midwest universities showing a "Strong Commitment to Teaching" and was named the #2 "Best Value in the Midwest."
To build upon this success, the University of Evansville seeks a president who will lead the university in creating a compelling vision for the future and a strategic plan to implement that vision. UE presents its next president with a strong academic program, a student-centered culture, a committed faculty and student body, a beautiful campus, a responsive and supportive Board of Trustees, and many unique programs that distinguish the university's educational experience, including Harlaxton College, the British campus of the University of Evansville.
Like most private institutions, the University of Evansville faces a number of pressing issues that require strong, collaborative, and intelligent leadership to help its community identify a shared vision for its future and to make the strategic choices necessary to attain that vision. To succeed in this changing environment, UE's next president will have a deep understanding of best practices in private higher education, business acumen, and the ability to serve as an eloquent and enthusiastic spokesperson and fund raiser for the university. An earned terminal degree in the candidate's field of expertise is strongly preferred as is a history of teaching and research commensurate with that of the university's senior faculty. The University of Evansville seeks a leader who can galvanize its community behind a vision for its future and can communicate that vision in ways that motivate its many constituencies to provide the support necessary to attain that vision.
Recruitment will continue until an appointment is made. Nominations, applications, and letters of interest (including a cover letter and resume) should be submitted via email to UEPresident@wittkieffer.com.
