Archaeology & Art History Alumni Profile

Stephanie BlueStephanie Blue
Class of 2004

Stephanie Blue's double major from the University of Evansville helped her succeed in graduate work and in her postgraduate internship at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. "My archaeology major led to two summers of field work in Italy, which added diversity to my résumé and gave me valuable leadership experience. My art history major encouraged me to pursue art history in graduate school, which prepared me for my internship at the National Gallery of Art."

As an Academic Year Intern at the National Gallery of Art, Stephanie works with academic programs and image collections. "I assist with Study Days in the galleries and supervise guest lectures, so I have the great fortune to meet scholars from across the U.S. and the world. In the image collections department, I archive digital photographs of Italian and German architecture, a project that keeps my research skills sharp and teaches me about digital database entry. The internship is designed to provide me with a broad museum experience and to prepare me for doctoral work and eventually a career in the museum profession."

Stephanie plans to complete another internship with the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute of Chicago and then begin work on a doctorate degree in art history. "I would not be where I am today without the support of my UE archaeology and history professors. My archaeology courses at Evansville were challenging and taught me how to complete thorough academic research. They especially taught me to question, appreciate, learn from, and write about art and artifacts, which helped tremendously in graduate school and in museum work."
