As an archaeology or art history student, you will be encouraged to study abroad, either at Harlaxton College, the University of Evansville’s British campus, or at another suitable site. Archaeology students, for example, may wish to pursue programs with College Year in Athens, Aix-en-Provence in France, the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome, the National University of Ireland-Galway or the American University in Cairo. Art history students have attended programs in Great Britain, Italy, France, and the Netherlands.
As a student in these areas of study, you will also have the chance to get practical experience. All archaeology and art history students are strongly encouraged to participate in an internship experience or excavation practicum; course credit is available for such experiential learning. The University has a long-standing connection with an excavation at the Etruscan site of Murlo near Siena, Italy. Students have also participated in excavations in England, Israel, France, Jordan, and the United States, including a historical excavation on campus at the University of Evansville. Both art history and archaeology students may participate in museum internships.
