Stephanie Frasier Stephanie Frasier, MFA
Assistant Professor of Art and Coordinator of Graphic Design Program

"Graphic design develops students as problem solvers. UE's program provides students with creative and technological skill sets that cultivate their ability to lead, conceptualize, plan, and execute effective communication that specifically targets its audiences." That is the belief of Stephanie Frasier, an Evansville alumna, graphic designer, and faculty member. Frasier understands the skills her students need to be competitive and successful in the design industry. "I enjoy challenging my students to think outside the box and seeing their creative results."

Frasier wants her students to understand what it takes to be a graphic designer. "I am able to draw from my professional work experience and ensure that they become familiar with real-life work environments whether through tours, job shadowing, or internships." To stay in touch with technology and design trends, Frasier produces communication pieces for freelance clients and nonprofit organizations.

The mission of the Visual Communication Design Club and a goal of Frasier's is to instill a desire in students to design for the greater good. "I hope they will utilize their talents to better the world by creating designs for nonprofit organizations, public service projects, and environmental and social issues."

Valerie Milholland Valerie Milholland, MA
Instructor of Art Therapy and Art Education

Valerie Milholland has a deep appreciation for the Department of Art at the University of Evansville. She earned a Bachelor of Science in pre-art therapy at Evansville in 1994. One of her student internships resulted in her first full-time position, in which she developed and ran the art program at a children's psychiatric hospital. She even met her husband in an art history class. In 2002, after completing a master's degree at the University of Louisville, she returned to Evansville to teach art therapy and art education classes and to supervise art therapy internships. The content of her classes includes theory, art activities, and a unique element she views as vital: personal growth.

"As a therapist and an educator, I want my students to learn more than theory — I want them to gain a better understanding of themselves. This insight makes them better artists, better students, and ultimately better individuals." Milholland says she is excited to have the opportunity to return to her roots and impact a new generation of art therapists.
