Michael Cullen, PhD
Professor of Biology and Department Chair
With 10 years experience at the University of Evansville, Michael Cullen loves what he does. "My colleagues and the students make what I do enjoyable. They challenge me every day. They are an inspiration to be around."
"I came to UE from a larger school, where it was hard to get to know my students. At UE, because the class sizes are small, I am able to learn the students' strengths and weaknesses and provide one-on-one personal attention. At UE there is a desire to work together among the faculty, staff and students, and that makes it a good place to be."
Professor Cullen teaches more than biology; he teaches skill sets. "Because the field of biology is changing rapidly, the most important skills I can teach my students are critical thinking and problem solving. By the time they graduate, the students know how to approach any problem in order to find a solution. I encourage my students to be the best they can be and give them the confidence to meet challenges."
