The diversity offered by the University of Evansville's communication program influenced Colleen Ward's decision to attend UE. "I wanted to study something that could be used in a variety of ways. Communication offers a wide range of career choices and areas."

Even though Collen's specialty area is advertising and public relations, she is able to take courses outside her area of emphasis. "In addition to my required classes, I've taken other communication courses that complement my major. The more I learn, the more interesting the subject becomes."

Being involved with campus activities has allowed Colleen to grow as an individual. "I'm a sorority member, NCAA Division I swimmer, and president of the Communication Club. I stay busy, but I've also become more outgoing as a result." This past summer Colleen interned with Image Works PR in St. Louis, Missouri. "Since Image Works PR is a boutique agency, I was able to do a little bit of everything including writing press releases and organizing media nights. It was a great learning experience."
