Special Education
"UE's special education program allows students more classroom experience and the chance to work with many types of learners with all forms of disabilities. I recommend the University of Evansville's education department to anyone looking for a well-rounded experience backed by teachers who are caring and compassionate in their field."
Ray Baker, UE Special Education Student

The University of Education offers licensure in two programs in the field of special education - mild intervention and intense intervention. Within a four-year period, students are able to major in special education for both mild and intense intervention or minor in mild intervention with an additional 14 hours for a major. In addition to teaching positions, graduates find employment in clinics, agencies, and centers devoted to the care and education of special needs persons.

The University of Evansville is one of the few universities that still offers a special education degree that allows the graduate to teach K-12 in all areas of disabilities. Students are placed in two to four internships prior to student teaching. This enhances the teacher-in-training experience. In today's population, there is a growing need for all teachers, especially in the area of special education. At the University of Evansville, graduates of this program have a 100 percent job placement rate.
