Environmental Studies Alumni Profile

Beth BoseckerBeth Bosecker
Class of 2007

For Beth Bosecker, the hands-on experience she received at the University of Evansville reinforced her choice of majors. "I enjoyed learning about ecology, effects of pollutants, chemistry, plants, organisms, and the environment. I really appreciated having the opportunity to go into the field to see firsthand how these concepts play out and also learning in the classroom at UE from expert professors."

Beth's cooperative education experience at Toyota Motor Manufacturing also confirmed her choice in majors. "During my three semesters working full time at Toyota, I monitored emission levels, hazardous waste, and wetlands to ensure that Toyota was meeting government regulations. I also led an awareness campaign about recycling for employees. My work at Toyota provided me with a wide range of experiences in teamwork that have assisted me in more recent encounters in both the classroom and in the real world."

After graduating from UE and before beginning her graduate studies, Beth worked at a national wildlife refuge south of Houston, Texas, and further defined her career goal. "After I graduate from Indiana University's School of Public and Environmental Affairs with a joint master's degree in environmental science and public affairs, I hope to get a position with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service managing a national wildlife refuge."

A third-generation UE alumna, Beth believes that majoring in environmental studies was the right choice for her and her interests. "I appreciate the advice and education I received from the faculty. I know that I am well prepared for the future."
