In addition to challenging course work, the history department offers students opportunities to pursue independent research. Through the University’s UExplore Undergraduate Research Program students may submit proposals for research conducted independently or in collaboration with members of the faculty. The program provides funding support for projects both during the school year and the summer.
As part of the department’s commitment to undergraduate research, it offers students opportunities to present research findings at various regional and national conferences. In recent years, Evansville history students have presented their work at the Butler Undergraduate Research Conference, Novus et Antiquus at Ball State University, and the Southwest Wisconsin Medieval and Renaissance Conference at the University of Wisconsin in addition to several regional conferences of the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society.
