Shelley Muneoka
Kaneohe, Hawaii

Shelly Muneoka

Sociology is the perfect major for Shelley Muneoka. "I love people and sociology allows me to look at how groups interact."

The University of Evansville has also been a great fit for Shelley. "Coming to UE from Kaneohe, Hawaii, sometimes feels like a study abroad experience. I have met so many different people." Shelley is involved in many campus organizations, several that promote diversity on campus. "I am active in the Japanese Club, the Hawaii Club, the Asian Culture Club and the International Students Club. I am also apart of the University orchestra, which gives me a break from my studies and allows me to meet students from other areas of study."

Shelley will intern this summer with a nonprofit organization that offers support programs to orphaned Hawaiian children and families, and next fall she will begin work on her senior research project. "All of these experiences will help me with my future goals. I plan on attending graduate school in Hawaii to pursue a future in social work. I have dreams of giving back to a community that has afforded me many opportunities, and I am excited to continue the cycle of contribution that I have benefited from."
