I recently went to Mississippi to help individuals affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. While it wasn't a traditional mission trip, it was a way for me to help people in need.
Going on this trip and others has been a way to learn about myself and move out of my comfort zone. Because of the diversity of organizations on campus that offer many different trips, it is easy to get involved, and that's important to me.

I want to be a good role model. That's why I volunteer. The volunteer services office at the University helps students find ways to be active on campus and in the community. For example, since the office knows that I have always wanted to work with children, I was paired with Big Brothers Big Sisters and a tutoring program.
UE supports the values of its students and faculty. The environment here allows students to thrive by being themselves without fear of being ridiculed. The activities I'm involved in outside of class and my volunteer experiences have shown me how great of an impact I can have on someone's life. I feel like I'm making great accomplishments.
