Multicultural Life

The University of Evansville believes in a culturally diverse environment that enhances the college experience for all students. Our 2,400 students come from 39 states and 50 countries. We want you to join the Evansville experience and be part of our multicultural organizations and programs.

The University of Evansville is also dedicated to international education and study abroad, so a global view is adopted in all our programs and vision. In addition to studying at Harlaxton College, the University's British campus in Grantham, England, Evansville students study in Australia, Chile, China, Egypt, France, Israel, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Russia, South Africa, Spain, and Uganda. Amnesty International UE

Amnesty International UE is a student organization whose purpose is to inform the University community of countries and people denied their basic human rights. They have a variety of activities and information sharing tables during the school year to support these basic human rights. For more information, contact Wes Milner.

Asian Cultural Club

The Asian Cultural Club is a student organization at the University of Evansville. The purpose of the club is to bring Asian students and UE students with interests in Asia together. Students who participate in the Asian Cultural Club will have opportunities to discover cultures and societies through activities and events. Black Student Union

The Black Student Union is an organization that meets weekly to share ideas about Black culture. We participate in many of the cultural events on campus and also conduct several of our own throughout the year. A sample of events and activities include: modern line dancing, modeling shows, community service projects, and meetings at local coffee houses. We welcome and embrace all students of color. Deta Sigma Theta Sorority, INC.

Delta Sigma Theta is part of the National Pan-Hellenic Council which serves as an umbrella organization for the nine national predominantly black sororities and fraternities. The UE Kappa Nu Chapter works in conjunction with members at surrounding universities and the Evansville graduate chapter to promote sisterhood and serve the greater community. French Club

The French Club explores the French Language and culture. For more information contact, Cathy Fraley.

German Club

The German Club promotes interest in all aspects of German language, culture and society, both on and off campus, by sponsoring activities that focus on both German culture in Germany and German-American interests in the United States. Membership is open to all students and faculty at the University, but especially to German majors and minors and students in German courses. Dr. Henry Lee Miner, associate professor of foreign languages, is the faculty advisor. For more information, contact Dr. Henry Lee Miner.

Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life

Hillel is the largest Jewish campus organization in the world. The Hillel student organizaton at UE offers a variety of opportunities for Jewish students to explore and celebrate their Jewish identity and to raise Jewish awareness. For more information, e-mail Valerie Stein.

Hispanic-Latino Student Association

The Hispanic-Latino Student Association provides cultural support and activities for students of Hispanic-Latino decent at Evansville. The organization meets on a biweekly basis to share music, language and learn about different Hispanic-Latino cultures. The group is also involved with the Spanish Club and the City of Evansville Hispanic-Latino cultural groups to help establish community involvement and support with prospective and current students. I-House (International House)

Open to all university students, I-House is an organization whose purpose is to enhance the experience of all students attending UE by helping them to understand cultures from around the globe. Weekly meetings with presentations about various cultures and countries are the basis for this learning experience. Contact Kirstin Kahaloa for more information.

International Students Club (ISC)

The International Students Club is dedicated to preserving, sharing, and understanding cultural relationships around the world. ISC explores concerns arising from international, cultural, historical, and socioeconomic events. Students and professionals exchange ideas through weekly meetings, sporting events, and programs. ISC consists of members from across the U.S. and all over the world. For more information about the International Students Club e-mail Kirstin Kahaloa.

Japanese Club

The Japanese Club explores the Japanese language and culture. For more information contact, Yoshiko Nagaoka.

Muslim Student Association (MSA)

The Muslim Student Association provides support, advice, and activities to Muslim students who come to attend Evansville. Activities planned by MSA include entertainment, education and religious activities. Muslim faculty advise, guide, and interact with Muslim students through MSA. MSA, as well as the Islamic Center of Evansville -- which is within walking distance of the campus -- provides strong support to Muslim students and make them feel at home. P.R.I.D.E (People Respecting Individual Diversity Everywhere)

The goal of P.R.I.D.E. is to bring the Evansville community together to create an environment that is safe and supportive for all people, specifically those who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered. P.R.I.D.E raises awareness, promotes tolerance, educates the campus community, and celebrates diversity. Membership is open to all, regardless of sexual orientation. Spanish Club

The Spanish Club meets twice a month and allows members to share their interest in the Spanish language and culture. A sample of activities includes meals at Hispanic restaurants, music video clip watch and discussions, movie nights, bake sales, field trips, etc. For more information, contact Juan Del Valle.
