The fall semester Cost of Attendance (COA) student budget will be increased as a way to help students qualify for possible loans. A student wishing to be considered for this COA increase should complete a Winter Intersession Financial Aid Application in the Office of Financial Aid by December 1. The student will be notified of the result and told how to request additional aid if available. The student must be enrolled in both the Fall and Winter Intersession in order for this adjustment to be made. The disbursement date for the Winter Intersession loan will be December 15. No UE scholarships, employee dependent aid, or UE athletic scholarships are available for the Winter Intersession. Part-time degree seeking students may have increased Pell Grant eligibility as determined on a case by case basis. Such students should also complete the Winter Intersession Financial Aid Application in the Office of Financial Aid by December 1.

Academic Policies

Audits and Pass/Fail

Registering for a Winter Intersession class as audit or pass/fail must be declared no later than December 15 at 5:00 PM CST. Be sure to note on the Winter Intercession registration form your intention to audit or take the class pass/fail. No exceptions will be made to registration deadlines.

UE degree students should understand the academic policy as it relates to the applicability of courses taken for pass/fail. Academic policies are available in the UE Catalog. Audited classes do not count for any degree requirements.

Academic Standing

Academic probation and dismissal determinations are made based on the student's academic standing at the end of the fall semester. Dismissed students will have their Winter Intersession enrollment cancelled, even if they have begun a Winter Intersession course.

Graduation

Students for whom a Winter Intersession class completes their degree requirements will be considered spring graduates. The degree will be awarded in May 2012 and the student will be eligible to participate in the spring commencement ceremony.

Course Load

Winter Intersession courses are not considered in determining fall or spring full-time status.
