Krannert Fine Arts, University of Evansville Campus, 1800 Lincoln Ave, Evansville, IN
Come and join us for Oboe Day at the University of Evansville! The event is open to all students and observers. Participants will spend the afternoon hearing a professional performance, learning from teaching sessions, listening to an oboe Masterclass, and playing in an oboe ensemble. This is a great opportunity to interact with an internationally known musician and to discover more about oboe technique and artistry.
The event will feature Guest Artist Robert Morgan, who plays English horn in the Lyric Opera of Chicago and teaches at Northwestern University. The Guest Artist Recital will begin at 12:15 pm in Wheeler Concert Hall. Following the performance will be sessions focusing on air support, posture, English horn, basic oboe maintenance, Baroque style, and other aspects of oboe playing. The cost for non-UE students is $30. Please feel free to contact Dr. Elizabeth Robertson if you have any questions or if you would like to register as a participant.
Oboe Day Registration includes an Oboe Day t-shirt, drinks, and snacks.
Guest artist, Robert Morgan, is Assistant Principal Oboe and Solo English Horn of the Lyric Opera Orchestra in Chicago. In addition, he is Principal Oboe of Music of the Baroque, the Chicago Philharmonic, and Chicago Opera Theatre. He teaches at Northwestern University and is president of the Chicago Reed Company. He is also a founding member of the Rembrandt Chamber Players, with whom he has recorded and performed internationally.
