Harlaxton College student tested positive for the Coronavirus

Dear UE Community,

I am writing to inform you of the unfortunate news that a Harlaxton College student tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and is self-isolating outside the state of Indiana. The student did not develop symptoms until after returning to the United States. The student was tested on Monday and received the positive test results today. Although this was not a student currently at the UE campus, we wanted to provide timely and transparent information.

As we move to more phases of discovery of the virus impacting those close to us, it is important, now more than ever, to treat each other with kindness and compassion. We continue to be enormously grateful to all, both in Harlaxton and Evansville, who have been working so diligently on behalf of our community.

Given the progression of the virus and the increased testing for positive cases in the U.S., we have provided resources on our website at www.evansville.edu/Coronavirus with how you can protect yourself.

If you begin experiencing symptoms (i.e., fever, sore throat, dry cough, etc.), contact your medical professional immediately as well as your state's department of health. Additionally, Notify the Dean of Students at deanofstudents@evansville.edu or by calling 812-488-2500.

The health and safety of our University of Evansville and Harlaxton communities continues to be our primary concern. We are here to support our students, faculty and staff as we navigate this continuously evolving global pandemic and offer our thoughts and prayers to the student and all members of our Harlaxton community.

Sincerely,

Christopher M. Pietruszkiewicz
President
University of Evansville
