Kristen Fowler Current Student Profile

Kristen Fowler
  1. What is your major?
Psychology with minors in neuroscience and ethics

  2. What is your home city/state?
    Marion, Illinois

  3. Why did you choose to attend UE?
I chose UE for many reasons, but overall I chose UE because it is clear that the faculty and staff care and want to help you succeed. There are opportunities with the small class sizes and committed faculty that you can't get elsewhere.

  4. Why did you choose to participate in the Honors Program?
I was excited by the idea of being challenged. I was hoping to find like-minded people to become fast friends. I was eager for the opportunity to take more specialized classes and engage in a different way with faculty. As a prospective student, speaking with the director of the Honors Program at an open house also really solidified my desire to participate in such an engaging program.

  5. What do you enjoy most about the Honors Program?
I have found those like-minded people that I sought out in the beginning of my four years. In fact, many of my best friends are in the Honors Program. I also like that the program has opportunities for involvement outside of classes (field trips, movie discussions, breakfasts, leadership positions, etc.). The free printing and opportunity to live in Powell are great perks too.

  6. What has been your favorite Honors class so far, and why?
My favorite honors class was Introduction to Neuroscience with Dr. Becker. As a psychology major and neuroscience minor, I knew I would enjoy this class, but it exceeded my expectations. Dr. Becker is engaging and passionate as a professor, and the course material is helpful for all students, not just those in the social sciences.

  7. What are your plans/goals following graduation?
I plan to pursue a PhD in either school psychology or clinical child psychology.
