Cindy White Current Student Profile

Cindy White
  1. What is your major?
Music Therapy with a minor in Psychology

  2. What is your home city/state?
    Louisville, Kentucky

  3. Why did you choose to attend UE?
I chose to attend UE because of the beautiful campus, strong music therapy program with opportunities to explore the field early in my undergraduate career, small class sizes, and supportive community. When I visited campus as a prospective student, I felt at home. Students and faculty were kind and smiled at me, and professors remembered my name. UE has lived up to that potential, and it has quickly become a home away from home.

  4. Why did you choose to participate in the Honors Program?
I chose to participate in the Honors Program because I wanted to be challenged. I was in the Honors Program at my high school, and it provided unique learning experiences to open and grow my mind and knowledge. UE's Honors Program appealed to me because it allows me to participate in learning experiences outside of my major. I love school and intellectual discussions, and the Honors Program provides opportunities to fill that want.

  5. What do you enjoy most about the Honors Program?
As well as the unique learning experiences, I enjoy the community the Honors Program provides. I lived in Powell my freshman year and met my best friends in that first year. Powell gave me a community with people that encourage my academic goals, but also provide emotional support. My friends from freshman year have become my best friends. We're silly and have fun together, but we also engage in intellectual discussion and encourage each other to excel at UE.

  6. What has been your favorite Honors class so far, and why?
My favorite Honors course was the very first Honors course I took at UE. My first semester, I took Introductory Ethics with Dr. Kretz, and it has shaped the way I think about things in my classes and in my life. Dr. Kretz emphasizes the importance of discussion and openness to the views of those around us. UE is such a diverse campus and has opened my mind to the world, while helping me to figure out my own views at the same time. This class helped start that journey, and I am so excited to be taking another class with Dr. Kretz this semester!
