When do I have to register?
Registration is now open for the Journey to Justice bus tour. The deadline to register is Wednesday, June 30, 2021. The deposit cost is $50.00
What activities are planned for the bus tour?
You can view the full itinerary on the Introduction page. In addition to site visits at each stop, students will also participate in film viewings, group discussion and lecture, and journal entries.
What are the ages of Journey to Justice participants?
Journey to Justice invites students who are rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors and a select number of University of Evansville students.
What are the arrival and departure times?
Students should arrive at the University of Evansville campus on Saturday, July 24, between 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. (CST). Students will depart from UE’s campus on Saturday, July 31, starting at 2:00 p.m. (CST).
How do I get to the University of Evansville?
Directions from the Evansville Regional Airport
  • Take US 41-South into Evansville
  • Go past the Lloyd Expressway and the Walnut Street stoplight
  • The next light will be Lincoln Avenue
  • Turn left onto Lincoln Avenue and proceed approximately one mile
  • The University of Evansville will be on your left
Where should I park once I arrive on campus?
Parents and participants may park on available street parking, and in the parking lot at the corner of Walnut Avenue and Rotherwood Avenue.
Can students with drivers' licenses drive themselves to campus?
If students wish to drive themselves to campus, they will need to use street parking. Students are not permitted to use their vehicles after arriving on campus until they depart at the end of Journey to Justice.
Will the students be well chaperoned during the week?
The safety of the students participating in Journey to Justice is our primary responsibility and we take it very seriously. We have employed some of UE’s finest undergraduates to serve as College Mentors throughout the week. They will be present with the students for entirety the road trip in order to chaperone the students and offer any support that is needed. UE’s Journey to Justice leaders will also be available in the residence halls.
Does Journey to Justice honor roommate requests?
We make every effort to honor requests for roommates, but cannot guarantee placement.
What is the cost to attend?
Cost for the trip is $800.00 per student, not including tuition costs and some meals. The trip cost covers coach bus travel to all of the locations. (Other funds are provided through the generosity of the Lilly Endowment Inc.) All students must submit a $50.00 deposit with their registration materials. Students are also responsible for any travel expenses incurred on their way to the University of Evansville.
Are there scholarships available?
Yes, there are a few scholarships available for students who demonstrate financial hardship in their application. Money should never be the reason a student cannot participate.
How will students be protected from COVID-19 during Journey to Justice 2021?
Journey to Justice will follow the University’s COVID-19 protocols. These are subject to change with pandemic conditions, but will likely include compulsory masks and four-person room accommodations for students. If possible, students are strongly encouraged to receive an approved COVID-19 vaccine prior to participating in Journey to Justice.
