Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on September 21. UE’s Peace Day concert is scheduled on the following day, September 22, to maximize participation by the campus and larger community.
The United Nations General Assembly declared September 21 as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. The United Nations invites all nations and people to honor a cessation of hostilities during the Day, and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.
To inaugurate the day, the "Peace Bell" is rung at UN Headquarters in New York City. This year’s International Peace Day Theme is EDUCATION FOR PEACE.
