PTA Alum Brad Gant
Meet Brad Gant, an alum of UE's Physical Therapist Assistant program, as he talks about his education in the Department of Physical Therapy, and how his experiences both inside the classroom and out helped prepare him for a successful career.
Expected Student Outcomes
Graduates of this program will be:
- Critical thinkers, who are able to perform selected treatment interventions under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist.
- Practitioners who demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning.
- Individuals who are able to identify their own values, recognize ethical dilemmas and seek solutions. practitioners who value participation in professional organizations.
- Practitioners who engage in collaborative relationships with the supervising physical therapist, the patient and caregivers.
- Individuals who practice physical therapy in a manner consistent with the APTA Guide for Conduct of the Affiliate Member, Standards of Ethical Conduct for the Physical Therapist Assistant, and the APTA Core Values.
Graduation Rate: 95% (2017-2018).
Licensure examination pass rate: 87% Ultimate pass rate (2017-2018).
Employment rate: 100% of graduates are employed or in residencies within six months of passing the exam. (2017-2018).

"In addition to my courses and professors, extracurricular activities helped me prepare for my career and the real world. Being involved in Greek Life, and serving as an orientation leader and senior trustee, I gained the experience I would need to be a leader in whatever career path I chose."
Brad believes a helpful and honest advisor is key in having a successful undergraduate experience and commends his advisors for steering him in the right direction. "My advisors offered advice and assistance when needed and encouraged me to find the right major — one that fit." Brad also earned a master's degree in health administration which has prepared him for his current leadership position. "I am now enjoying a career where I can spend time treating patients and using my leadership skills with staff.” The UE staff, professors, and organizations helped turn an unsure student into a confident leader."
