Martin Luther King, Jr. Rally and Symbolic March
11:45 a.m., Monday, January 21, 2019
Carson Center, Student Fitness Center, University of Evansville Campus, 1800 Lincoln Ave, Evansville, IN
Historically, the March on Washington broadened the base of the civil rights movement. The March was not a black action; it was a feat by blacks and whites together, all people. Not just the leaders of the black organizations, but clergy, political leaders, and community spokespeople called for change. UE commemorates the March of Washington through a Symbolic March through campus as a celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and other civil rights leaders of that time.
