Assistant Professor, Clinical Nursing Faculty
The University of Evansville invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Assistant Professor, Clinical Nursing Faculty position. This role is critical to preparing the next generation of skilled and compassionate nurses, combining academic instruction with clinical mentorship. Position Overview
As a Clinical Nursing Faculty member, you will:
- Deliver high-quality education and training in clinical and online hybrid settings.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate student learning experiences that foster clinical competence and critical thinking.
- Provide mentorship to students, supporting their academic and professional growth.
- Collaborate with healthcare partners and academic colleagues to enhance nursing education and practice.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Instruction and Mentorship:
- Supervise and evaluate nursing students in clinical settings, modeling best practices and ensuring safe, effective patient care.
- Integrate evidence-based practices into clinical instruction, guiding students in developing essential skills.
Curriculum Development and Assessment:
- Design and update course materials, including syllabi and clinical scenarios, to reflect current industry standards.
- Evaluate student performance through simulations, skills check-offs, and case studies.
Student Support and Advising:
- Provide individualized feedback and career guidance, fostering ethical standards and resilience.
- Maintain accessibility for student inquiries and mentorship.
Collaboration and Professional Engagement:
- Build and maintain partnerships with healthcare facilities, clinical sites, and community organizations.
- Participate in faculty meetings, institutional committees, and professional development activities.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Nursing (required); Doctorate in Nursing or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: At least three years of clinical nursing experience, ideally in critical care, maternal-child health, or pediatrics. Prior teaching experience, especially in clinical or simulation environments, is strongly preferred.
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or Kentucky (or compact licensure eligibility).
- Skills: Strong clinical expertise, effective communication, and a commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
