There is a full-time opening in the Office of Safety and Security for a Security Officer.
The duties of a campus security officer include all elements of general police work under the broad headings of protection, service and enforcement. Protection is centered on keeping the campus clear of criminal elements and secure from predictable fire and other hazards. Enforcement covers both criminal law and university rules and regulations.
A full range of security duties are required that include foot and motor vehicle patrol: auto accident, criminal, and safety investigations; traffic and parking control; access control of buildings; and preparation of required reports for documentation.
Interested candidates must be 21 years of age or older and possess a valid driver’s license from their current State of residence. Must have the ability to deal effectively with, and communicate with people. Also, must be physically and mentally able to perform campus security work. Must have good hearing and vision. A high school diploma or GED is required. Experience in police or security work is desired.
Candidates must be able to work any shift, 8AM – 4 PM, 4PM – Midnight, and Midnight – 8AM, and weekends and holidays. After initial training, the successful candidate will be assigned to the Midnight – 8AM shift.
