Open Table: July 12-18, 2020

Be transformed in mind, heart, and spirit.

The Open Table Youth Theology Institute is a week-long spiritual immersion for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors at the University of Evansville. Students will stay in the residence halls on campus, live together in community, and dive deep into life's big spiritual questions with university faculty, clergy, college mentors, and new friends.

At the heart of Open Table is the spiritual practice of hospitality, defined as making room in our story for your story. Open Table students will embody the community modeled by Jesus where everyone is welcome at the table. As part of the experience, students will visit the former utopian communities of New Harmony, pray with the brothers at St. Meinrad Archabbey, attend Friday prayers (Jummah) at the local Islamic Center and Sabbath (Shabbat) at the Jewish synagogue. The week will be filled with worship, theology classes, vocational workshops, a movie night, and more.

The capstone of Open Table is the credo project; students give voice to their own beliefs and share them in writing, visual art, song, or dance. Students are sent back to their home communities with new eyes and open hearts, inspired to make change in their worlds.
