Coordinator of Health Education/Counselor
The Department of Student Life has an opening for Coordinator of Health Education/Counselor beginning August 11, 2014. The Coordinator will provide substance abuse assessments, intervention, counseling services, and referrals to students as part of the educational mission of the university. Specific programs regarding substance abuse, mental health and general wellness issues with particular emphasis on issues characteristic of college life will be presented to student organizations, student athletes, residence halls, and the general student body. The Coordinator provides training to student leaders and staff on salient campus health and substance abuse issues.
The Coordinator is also part of the counseling staff and provides counseling to students for a wide variety of mental health issues, particularly substance issues. This position is part of the emergency response team, providing on-call coverage on a rotational basis. The Coordinator serves as a referral for all disciplinary cases involving students who violate the alcohol and drug policy of the university.
Education requirements include a MSW, with LCSW preferred & 1 year related experience. Advanced clinical counseling skills, with particular emphasis on substance abuse, are necessary.
