Caring, Giving, Reaching... a UE Tradition
If you are returning your young adult to UE, you already know just how much the faculty, staff and administration care about our students. Caring, Giving & Reaching is not just a "saying" at UE, it's a way of life! For those of you who sent your son or daughter to UE for the first time this fall, you too will soon experience first-hand just how much UE has to offer.
The UE Parents Council has established a scholarship, called simply the "Parents' Fund". Our goal is to raise $40,000 for this academic year; so far we have collected almost $14,000 from 222 parents. Please make sure that you get counted, make your gift today! If every parent contributes just $25...$50...$100, whatever you can do, we will not only meet our goal—we will SHATTER it! Your one-time gift, when combined with the gifts of literally hundreds of other Caring, Giving & Reaching parents will help us do just that!
With your support, the Parents' Fund, as part of UE's Annual Fund, will provide more than 90% of our students with scholarship assistance. All gifts to the Parents' Fund are tax deductible, and you will receive a letter acknowledging your gift (for tax purposes). Parents that are Indiana residents also qualify for an Indiana State Tax Credit when they make a gift to UE.
To give to the Parents' Fund, please call Robin Greenlee, Director of Annual Giving, at 812-488-2273 or give online. Every gift counts! Thank you for giving! You can also purchase a brick to honor your student.
Become a PIEE Volunteer Today!
As a UE parent, you have the opportunity to establish a partnership with the University through support of Career Services programs and initiatives, and by mentoring individual students. Parents can be very helpful in encouraging and supporting their sons and daughters during their major and career exploration process. As a parent, why not extend your reach a bit further and assist many UE students by becoming a PIEE volunteer!
PIEE or Partners In the Evansville Experience is a professional network of UE alumni, parents and friends who assist in the career services process for current undergraduates. PIEE is a relationship to directly connect UE students to an infinite variety of professional development and support. The great news is that you and/or your company can contribute towards this exciting experience and get involved with current UE students, other alumni, faculty and the Offices of Alumni and Parent Relations and Career Services and Cooperative Education. Your background and experience can serve and lead students to a higher level of professionalism. So, why wait? Learn more about PIEE, and create a win-win situation!
Mentor Program
One of the most important elements of PIEE is our Mentoring Program. Parents are directly connected to current juniors and seniors looking for assistance and support with their career development needs. Parents will serve as professional mentors to these students and will provide a wide variety of information and guidance. Your primary role as a mentor will be to enrich and coach one of our students in their career development and education. The program typically begins in mid-to-late September with a reception on campus and will continue throughout the academic year.
A major component of the mentoring program is our Luncheon Speaker series, which is held on campus four times a year. This is a great way for student mentees and mentors to get together several times a year to converse, network, and hear a great speaker on campus. Lunch is provided by the University. If you would like to become a mentor, please fill out a Mentor Interest form to become a mentor for the 2010-2011 academic year.
