Scholarships and Merit-Based Awards

Freshmen Merit Scholarships for Fall 2012

Merit scholarships are offered to students based upon the information gathered from the University of Evansville Application for Admission. For full consideration of all awards, students should apply by UE's Early Action deadline of December 1, 2011.

Presidential Scholarship — valued at $16,500 per year. Awarded to the highest achieving applicants, Presidential Scholars are invited to Davidson Scholarship Days to compete for a:

National Merit, National Achievement, and National Hispanic Scholar Awards — valued at $20,000 or full-tuition. For National Merit Scholar semifinalists, National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars, and National Achievement Scholar semifinalists, the UE scholarship will be $20,000 per year.

National Merit Scholar finalists and National Achievement Scholar finalists will receive a full-tuition scholarship per year if they list UE as their college choice with the National Merit Corporation by the April deadline.

Ridgway Award — valued at $18,000 per year. Awarded to the highest achieving applicants who reside or attend high school in Vanderburgh County, Indiana.

National Need for Nurses — valued at $18,000 per year. Awarded to students accepted into UE's Nursing program.

Scouting Scholarship — valued at a minimum $13,000 per year for students who meet select academic criteria and have earned the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout Award, Sea Scouting Quartermaster Award, Girl Scouts of the USA Gold Award, or the Venturing Silver Award.

Academic Scholarship — valued at $13,000 to $15,000 per year.

Aces Award — valued at $9,500 per year.

Fine Arts Scholarships — valued at $9,500 to $16,500 per year. Applicants must audition with academic area of interests.

The awards listed above are for domestic, full-time freshmen in traditional undergraduate degree programs, who graduate from high school in Spring 2012 and enter UE in Fall 2012. Students are awarded the merit scholarship of highest value.

Earned Financial Awards for Fall 2012

Students may earn additional financial awards from the following programs in which they qualify.

Davidson Scholarship Days — Invited students may compete within their academic areas of interest for additional financial awards ($500 to $1,500 per year).

Manager and Trainer Grants — Awarded at the discretion of UE's athletics manager or trainer to students who assist with UE's NCAA Division I Athletic teams ($1,000 to $2,000 per year).

Ensemble Participation Grants — Awarded to non-music majors who will perform with a UE music ensemble. The award is $500 per year and based upon student audition which must be completed by April 1, 2012.

Sibling Scholarship — Awarded to the older UE student when a younger sibling enrolls. The award is $1,500 per year while both students attend UE. Entering twins or triplets each receive $1,000 per year.

Add-on Scholarships for Fall 2012

Students may receive one of the following:

International Baccalaureate Diploma Award ($500 per year). Awarded to students who earn the International Baccalaureate Diploma in high school.

Legacy Award ($500 per year). Awarded to children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of UE graduates.

United Methodist Scholarship ($500 per year). Awarded if student is an active member of a United Methodist Church and recommended by a minister.
