Services

The Center for Career Development partners with all the colleges and schools of the University of Evansville to deliver quality services and support to all students and alumni. Our services include:

  • Career Advising: Work one-on-one with a career counselor to set goals and create a strategic career development plan. Office professionals can advise you at any stage of your educational career, but it is a good idea to begin this during your freshman year.

  • Self-Assessment: Center for Career Development offers TruTalent Personality to help students identify strengths and explore career options that fit their personal profile.

  • Internships/Co-ops: One of the best ways to prepare for the world of work is by obtaining hands-on experience through an internship or co-op. The Center for Career Development can assist you in finding such positions and refer your resume to employers seeking interns and/or co-op students.

  • Handshake: Posting a résumé, viewing internship, part-time and full-time position openings and registering with our office may all be done on our web site.

  • On-Campus Recruiting: Dozens of employers come to campus during the fall and spring semesters to conduct interviews with our students.

  • Career Resource Room: Directories, books about specific majors, graduate school guides, CD-ROMS, and job bulletins are all housed in the Career Resource Room. No appointment is necessary to explore the options.

  • Graduate School Assistance: View graduate school guides in the Career Resource Room and receive assistance with the graduate school timeline. We can also assist you in writing your personal statement or essay.

  • Career Fairs: It is never too early to attend a career fair to learn about career opportunities and network with professionals. Each year the Center for Career Development sponsors three job fairs: Career Day, Health Careers Fair, and Teacher Recruitment Day.

  • Mock Interviews: Practice makes perfect! Sign up for a simulated job interview to practice your questions and answers for interviews.

  • Mentoring Programs: Each fall the office co-sponsors several mentoring programs, giving students the opportunity to work closely with a professional in the community or online. Mentoring programs provide students the opportunity to network, learn new work-related skills and become more focused on career goals.

  • Resume/Cover Letter Help: Get feedback or assistance with your resume or cover letter. Make an appointment to meet one-on-one professional who will help you reflect yourself in a positive manner.

  • Workshops: Every semester the Center for Career Development offers a variety of workshops, ranging from "Creating the Resume and Cover Letter Right for You" to "Interviewing Skills Designed to Impress."

  • Professional Panels: These "What can I do with a major in..." panels feature a particular major, allowing alumni and other local professionals to share their experience with work as it relates to their UE major.

  • Company Information: Learn more about companies interested in University of Evansville students and alumni by perusing our web site. You will find links that detail company history, products and employment opportunities.
