Objectives

The PhD in Health Professions Education aims to prepare students to develop the skills necessary to become effective educators who utilize the evidence to inform their teaching and develop their scholarship skills to become successful contributors to interdisciplinary research across the healthcare continuum. Students will need to fulfill the following program objectives:

  1. Design evidence-based adult learning strategies and methodologies with appropriate scope, sequence, and focus for various health profession learners.
  2. Direct and compose multiple approaches to assessing student learning.
  3. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs, curricula, and instruction.
  4. Analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative data sets.
  5. Defend scholarly products in oral and written professional communications.
