Elementary Education

Hometown: Evansville, Indiana
I started my college career at the University of Evansville, but I was studying something besides Elementary Education. I was neither enjoying it nor learning successfully, and it left me feeling stuck, helpless, and alone no matter how much I studied or practiced. I felt over my head and started to believe that college just wasn’t for me.
I left the University and decided to continue my educational journey at Ivy Tech Community College in Evansville. It was there that I discovered my strong passion for elementary education, which ultimately led me to pursue finishing my bachelor’s degree. Choosing to return to UE was a difficult decision, but the faculty and staff in my department made me confident that there was no better place for me. Despite my past struggles, I was assured that my future successes wouldn’t be held back. I was given a fresh, clean slate to show my promise, passion, and determination for my field.
If it weren’t for the incredible support from the staff around me, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I no longer feel stuck, helpless, or alone. I feel supported, uplifted, and surrounded by people who want my future to be as bright as my passion. Just as I was able to find my place here, I believe every student has a place at the University of Evansville.
