Emily has been involved in the infant mortality ChangeLab Project from the start, applying her scientific and sociological knowledge to a crucial problem facing an underserved community in Evansville. She rejected the status quo that race and class differences are sufficient reasons for inaction and maltreatment. Emily and the ChangeLab group helped design and implement communication pieces that teach others about safe strategies for reducing high infant mortality rates among communities of color.
